The First Run Was A Good Un

Monday and first day of the new job.

I have been given a 52 reg Iveco Stralis for two weeks. Its an auto box and the dash lights up like an F1 car.

Inside the truck it's massive, the roof just goes on and on, its like driving a barn around.
I found more compartments to put things than I have things to put (which is saying a lot).

I was having a problem with the steering wheel, it was obscuring my view of the pretty lights on the dash so I asked the Trucknet memebers how to move it and within minutes I was inundated with answers , same thing with the gear box.
It's a semi automatic and I just wanted some advice on how best to drive it and what to expect and once again the Trucknet team came to my rescue.

When I first drove the truck and I was giving it gas, it moved like I'd filled up with kangaroo juice. No gas and it slid backwards. It took me a bit of time to sort out the touch I needed .

Other than that the trucks ok, I had a bit of a drama when I accidently switched on the hottest cab heater ever made on the way down the M1 and missed my turn, roasting for ten minutes while looking for the off button.

I wont be in this truck for long though because I am now officially known as a "floater"
I 'll be in everyones wagon while they are off on holiday , I'll be about as poular as an agency driver!

My first run out was a load and go out of Magna Park and down to Reading.
Everything went like a dream.

I was actually glad to be out on the motorway again.
I felt in touch with the world, I felt involved, part of life.

I have spent the past month at home and in different circumastances it would of been great , spending time with the kids and my wife. It was really nice.
Its just that being on the Dole isnt like a holiday, there is no time for family trips to town and days out.

You are at home but for all the wrong reasons so you dont enjoy it. Geting back to work was the best feeling in the world and I feel really lucky that I got back in so quick.
