This was parked next to the yard when I returned.
I am still doing multi drop and I am still in Market Harborough.
I wonder why the office never thought of telling me how to find the addresses or explaining how to get to them, because every time I arrive, after twenty minutes of head scratching or crack sweating, they ask me where the usual driver is, and did I find them all right?
Indicating to me that these are all regular delivery's.
If they know how hard they are to find, why not inform me, have a simple plan or a map even?
I store all my drops on my tom tom as poi's as I go.
This was a parrot dealer I delivered a ton of parrot food to. It was my last drop but I had driven past it a few times. when I arrived they told me they have a delivery every week.
Oh and its all handball !!
My POI's could be transferred to all the other drivers but the haulage industry seems to have a pathological hatred of Sat nav.
They always seem to spout the same old crap about maps , maps, maps, blah, blah blah.
I look at a paper map and it looks the same as a Sat Nav map to me , it has a line and some information written on it.
My sat nav also speaks to me and recommends when to make a turn. It doesn't turn the wheel or change gear or rev the engine, it just recommends a route and then follows that route as you drive.
Lots of times I have followed the route and been fine, the odd time I have gotten into a mess and very rarely the sat nav just couldn't help and I had to resort to using the phone and getting the customer to talk me in.
Usually however Sat nav is a brilliant bit of kit.
So enough about Sat nav . I finished all the drops before 1 pm today and phoned in.
Big Mistake !
I was given loads more collections and I am still out on them at 5 pm.
This wag and drag was in front of me on my last collection. That was what they loaded on him !! See the size of the wagon?
Two days left on Palletways , I hope I'm on something else soon because its driving me mad!
Thursday and I was on a 7.5 t and decided to try and take some video of the loading process.
This was taken on the reverse camera above the barn doors on the 7.5 tonner .
I went up to Dixons in Newark and then ran up to Horncastle and then back down to Grantham.
I passed this crash, every body else seemed to be getting held back.
I was sent this way by the sat nav and, using my eyes I realised that my little 7.5t truck wouldn't fit under because it was 11' 10" and this bridge was 11' 6".
It was marked up on all my paper maps as 13' 0" and proves my point regarding maps vs Sat navs.
They all have advantages and disadvantages , you need to look and see whats happening on the ground and take nothing for granted
This was the inside of one of my collections this morning.
This is what I was dropping off.
Im back on the villages tommorow and all I can say id TFI !!
