Sinister Showing

I was in the lorry at 7 this morning for my first multi drop job for the new company.

I had to load at magna park, one job a major supermarket and the other
three, a wine retailers around the south.

I was booked in at Magna Park for 7.30 and as soon as they saw me pull into the yard the forkie called me over and started loading me! whowww.
Our company's privilege apparently

I could get used to this.

I had all my notes together by 8 am and was loaded and ready to go by 8.30.

As I strapped down the load a few of the other drivers got a bit restless.

I didn't care.

I had roughly 8 tonne of bottled beer on the back and I didn't want to be losing any.

The first drop turned out to be a Distribution Center in Northampton the size of a village. It was called Pineham. It was really clean and efficient.

I was worried though because if these places start to improve too much there will be nothing left for us lorry drivers to moan about.

I had to leave my keys and wait in the waiting area , but they had a flat screen TV showing the news channel so it wasn't to bad until.....................

A few morons in the waiting room cheered when the Fascist leader of the BNP came on the screen and they boasted about voting for them.

I looked around the room incredulously expecting to see a load of sympathetic faces showing contempt and disdain but a few piped up with , "yeah me too" and " I'd brick the Effing tunnel up" that'll teach the Bastards" I was shocked that they would all, so publicly and willingly, reveal there new allegiances, and in front of strangers to.

Politics took a sinister turn in this country this week with the BNP getting a new lease of life.
I cant stand them and I struggle to see how normal everyday working blokes fall for the rubbish they spout.

Hearing their leader struggle to talk about his party's policy's on the radio and TV news would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

He was more interested in talking about the DNA and the genetics of Anglo Saxons and the 1000 year history of Britains indigenous population than getting the economy moving and getting us all back to work.

I left Pineham about an hour after arriving which is good timing for this sort of delivery and made my way down to Milton Keynes.

I was going to be using the tail lift for the rest of the day so I was expecting some tight drops and some awkward service roads to trip me up but everything went smoothly.

I kept the loads strapped down as the wagon emptied just in case.

I made my over to Stevenage from Berkhampton and had a 45 at the South Mimms lorry park.

They tried to rip me off but I spoke up this time.

Last time I picked out one of their over priced chocolate offer deals , 3 for £1.70 or something and the till didn't make the adjustment. I kept quiet and paid up that time but it happened again today.

In my new uniform and shiny wagon I must of been feeling confident so I refused to pay the price shown on the till.
"The till is saying there is no offer" said the cashier, It was a clear offer and they hadn't put it on the till deliberately in my opinion.

The other rack at the front was left blank and the only way of knowing was a tiny card in a side display.

I would of been arguing against the wind if it hadn't been for that Eddie Stobbart driver that insisted he too had seen the offer and it was indeed 2 boost duo's for £1.30 or any combination thereof.

Many calls to managers were made and after 15 minutes I had my 50 pence reduction. Victory!

This was my last drop in Stevenage before heading home.I was coming out of this drop and heading onto the A1 when I started thinking about my old firm. I used to have a regular 4 pm delivery at John Lewis on Gunnel's.

I couldn't believe my eyes when right in front of me was this.................It wasn't my old one, it was the other one. what a coincidence .
I pulled up next to my old colleague and had a brief chat, well as much as you can call shouting through an open window for 8 seconds and smiling a lot, a chat.

I got a night out in Wales tommorow night and an early start in the morning so I will post you from the lovely pleasent and once red but now tinged with pink and blue Wales.
